I must admit that without the journalism assignment, I would probably won't go for the Hulu Selangor by-election or just sit at the home, watch the tv and get the info from it, albeit I'm a political freak. However, I do think that the geographical close-proximity would enable me to observe the way of election being done. Therefore, I went for PKR and BN candidate nomination on 13 & 15 April respectively.
Firstly, let me describe the PKR. I found something quite interesting that DAP seems lack of enthusiasm in assisting PR. Why I say like that? Because I could only found Tan Seng Giaw, DAP's national vice-chairman on the stage. The heavyweight such as Lim Kit Siang, Lim Guan Eng are not appeared. That makes the nomination 3 lack of 1 circumstances. Not surprisingly, Zaid Ibrahim is the person who win the last trophy, of cause within PKR. The night is filled with the crowd, heat emotion and determination of PR to defend the seat.
Secondly, under the warm temperature and with the missing of my two tutorials, I went for Bukit Beruntung BN Command Post. I would say that, the command post is like carnival or circus, because of the existence of many canopies. Compare to PKR, the candidate for BN is more complicated because it involve the power twisting between Samy Vellu and Najib. G.Palanivel is the favor of Samy but not for the Hulu Selangor voters. And Najib could not place a Malay as the seat is reserved for the MIC. Meanwhile, there is a rumor that Mugilan, MIC H/S'gor youth chief, has been selected but opposed by Samy. The best solution is the third person involvement, Kamalanathan. I still remember there is a theory of cross-line in the political science. When the two line compete each other, the best way to resolve it is to pick the middle point, which mean the equilibrium point. G.Palanivel and Mugilan are the two lines and Kamalanathan is the middle point. This is the arts of politics. I guess.
When Kamalanathan is announced as the candidate, there are quite number of BN supporters who do not know him, even myself. How could it be possible to win the seat without the popularity among the supporters? Finally I discover that my father recognises him and they have been servicing in SEGAR PIBG together. No wonder la, my father seems so excited, from the other side of h/p.
I don't know who will win the by-election, but at least the H/S'gor voters are the biggest winner, for at least before the polling day. The Sg.Choh road is tarred and rebuilt. Most of the secondary school within the district receive the 'well-projected' fund from government. What the h***, no by-election, no money to develop. I wish I could have a by-election in Rawang so I can ask the candidate to help me to write my asssignment in order to win my vote :)
But I bet a piece of roti canai, PKR will win approx 1k, no special reason, just sixth sense.
